Appointments
During your orthodontic treatment, you will have basically four types of appointments. They are listed for your reference.
Placement of Braces
The placement of your braces is usually scheduled in the morning and requires one hour and a half.
Adjustment Appointments
Orthodontics requires unique scheduling techniques simply because braces need routine adjustments. These adjustments are usually scheduled five to ten weeks apart and last 20 to 60 minutes. This is the most frequent type of appointment you will have scheduled.
Removal of Braces
The removal of your braces will take about an hour and is also scheduled in the morning. The teeth will be polished and cleaned. Photographs and X-rays of the teeth will be obtained and a lower retainer will be delivered.
Retention Appointments
One week following removal of your braces, you will be given retainers. Following this delivery appointment, there will be three consecutive appointments to check on the retention of our work (3 months, 6 months and 9 months). After the third and final retainer check, we will release you from our retention program. However, retainer wear is still encouraged for a lifetime.
